OK, here's what I was told. The boxcar between the two locomotives is for weight distribution. This train makes a side trip to Shelby, NC every day. Some of the bridges on the Shelby line can't support the weight of 2 GP's so they put some of the power equipment in that ex-Central of Georgia boxcar to spread out the weight. You can see they're running cab-backwards like the old Southern days. And about that horn...what do you guys think it sounds like...a wounded moose crying out in pain or a '54 Buick??

  • never see high hoods and not even Norfolk Southern. I saw a Norfolk Southern late summer 2008 in Chicago.
