Just a short clip of a bear spotted next to a park road this week. The bear was leisurely grazing near the road. But when it got more interested in sampling the plants right next to the road (and quite close to our little group of bear watchers), picture time was over!

I totally agree. The article in the paper said that the tourist waited until the bear was inches from him and the "damage" wasn't even enough for him to seek medical attention. Yet they had to put the bear down. Very sad. My husband and I were in the park the day they closed the trail and caught the bear. :(

  • I read a horrible story a few days ago about a black bear biting a tourist who got too close and now the bear will be put down. Its sad that a bear that makes its home in the Smokies has to die because of the ignorance of one person.

  • That's a bear alright.

  • Just awesome great animal in a great park. 7/7*

    thanks,---JC
