Spotlight is a new series produced by Western Illinois University Television and hosted by Beth Seaton, director of the Office of Sponsored Projects at WIU.

This episode takes viewers to the Kibbe Life Sciences Station on the
Mississippi River near Warsaw, IL, to look at the grant-supported research there. Sean Jenkins, associate professor of biological sciences at Western and the director of the Kibbe Life Sciences Station. Jenkins is responsible for obtaining the original National Science Foundation grant to help WIU build the current research field station there.

Also featured is Jim Lamer, Kibbe field station manager, as well as a few of the interns who conducted research projects at Kibbe during the summer of 2011. Many of WIU's biological sciences faculty members conduct research in conjunction with the field station, and much of it is funded by external sponsors.
