You're absolutely right. They are -trying- to raise awareness on violence against women, which is noble, but they are sexualizing it by putting these women in submissive or "tempting" positions, then dressing them in clothes that are generally used for sexual advertising, such as slips, "spaghetti straps" and high heels. These aren't the kinds of positions or facial expressions one holds when beaten. And the image of a true victim is terrifying and heartbreaking... not glamorous.

Yes, Demonic is such a scholar. I am sure he will do great things in his life.

Wow!
I had no idea that a trite "reality" show chose to glamorize/sexualize violence toward women.
I love your power point presentation. Your use of statistics makes a profound statement!
It is easy for some to dismiss your response as overly dramatic, but as the member of a family where domestic violence against women (my mom, my sis, myself) had occurred for at least 10 years, I find comfort knowing that someone is working to rise up against anything that entices, condones, or promotes DV!!!!

It looks cool

this is true. if they were raising awareness of violence against women then they should have said that on the show. they didnt. they made it so the models murdered each other. =[

Oh yeah, just the thought of a battered women just turns me on, its sooooo sexy *sarcasm*
C'mon, they are in no way promoting the idea of abusing women as sexy or ok in any way. If you just watch the episode you'd know that. And if anyone finds this sexy or ok, they already had issues to begin with. So stop bugging about this, its just a dark photo shoot. Geez, next your going to say the photo shoot in Africa portraying animals promotes bestiality, lmao.

See me and take me to a whole new world of ecstacy!!

Ok, so I'm reading some of these comments, and the main argument seems to be that this subject matter is fine "because the models killed each other, they weren't killed by men, dummy!" (With more insults and spelling/grammatical errors.) So let me get this straight: it's ok to portray violence against women as long as that violence also perpetuates the stereotype of female jealousy of another female's beauty or success? Whatever. America disgusts me.

photography is art. art is what the artist feels like expressing. what the artist feels like expressing is absurd to discuss.
