PRESENTED BY LAYLA ANNA-LEE

Gideon plucks six strings, dreams stories and sings. Kid sister Viva, a.k.a. 'The Shark', plonks, stomps and honks. Formerly members of Bikini Atoll, they released two albums on Bella Union, second album recorded by geeky genius Steve Albini. Then, they formed a family band and spent summer 06' getting drunk in a barn writing songs on their 8 track recorder. It's been two years now and in this time they've been invited to play with great bands and musicians around europe; Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Archie Bronson Outfit, The Duke Spirit, Scout Niblett, Michael Gira to name but a few. Their tales are beginning and their tails are wagging....

  • god i love this song

  • best band ever on the earth planet....put more shark into my teased sound holes ples. Ples ples ples make a sound into head holes of here.

    Bang!

    Thats better.

I can hear how they are influenced by Luther vandross.

  • I was lucky enough to see them with Seasick Steve.....Brilliant!!!!

  • I just saw them at Lounge on the farm festival in Kent. I was filming them for a local newspaper website. For the first 2 or 3 minutes i thought i was gonna hate it. By the end of the first song they were my new favourite band. Mesmerising / amazing...that's all.

  • I don't get it

  • i second that. while the guy above was just being plain rude.

they are loose here, and i can see why it might not come across to a new listener.

but then if youre not tolerant of other people's subjectivity then prepare for no one to listen to you whether they like the music or not.

  • No danger of slipping into dullness. Even the stylish way of drumming almost looks like a dance performance by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker. (Look at the Kathy Ray video).

  • i personally love this. but i can imagine how they could easily slip into being awful live. maybe you guys just disagree because the shows were different...

also. what amazing facial hair. that alone warrants applause..

  • If it is just "your" opinion, why then do you hide behind "everone". if you only like blues, that's fine with me, I love it, but I can't imagine that "everyone" overthere was so narrow minded.

Luckily they don't need any support. By now I've read everything about them and I see practically nothing but phrases like "the most original music in years", "brilliant siblings" etc.

  • B., you don't have a clue about great music.

Heard them yesterday, before Wovenhand, and they were great, bloody fantastic!
