im living in Edinburgh right now i was on a good wage in sales. but have just changed jobs and am now on minimum wage last week for 42.5 hours after tax i earnd £173. try living in a city like London or Edinburgh on £173 a week and trying to save to travel. Australias minimum wage is higher and the coast of living is much lower so im better off in AUS.

UPDATE -
The minimum hourly rate for over 21 year olds will be £5.71 per hour from the 1st of October 2008

I really appreciate how many opportunities are in England now after living in Japan for two and a half years.
I agree with that managers last comment.
I feel Japan has shed my laziness and apathy that I once had in Britian and the South East.
Any chance of a job in your restaurant on return.
