In which Jim rides a Triumph ST sport-touring bike. Many thanks to the Triumph Demo Team and Alamo Triumph-BMW of San Antonio Texas for hosting this very well run event.

  • The Triumph Trophy was a real winner as a sport/tourer, but for some reason it did not catch on. I still use mine.

Did you end up buying a Triumph

  • @cashstore1 - I really the Triumph , but I went with an FJR.

  • Btw, I'm a 2006 VFR owner. I usually trade a bike in about every year because I get bored with them. I don't seem to have that problem with the Honda. The VFR1200 is going to be a turd in the toilet that won't flush. Base price is $15k and it does not come with bags! It's heavy, and fugly! Honda already has two models that don't sell - the DN-01 and the NT700V. A better buy would be a Burgman, since both Honda models are as close to a scooter as one can get, especially in HP rating... lol

  • I really like the VFR, and if I could have found one to rent or demo ride might well have bought one.

I liked the NT700V because I like a standard seating position, but you're right about the low power compared to the fairly high weight.

  • Jim... if you like Beemers so much then you should check into the price of a R1200R with the touring package... MSRP of $13,795. It includes the bags, which is weird because the premium package doesn't include the bags, just the mounts, and if you were to add ABS to the touring package you end up with more bike for the same money.

  • I like the R1200RT a lot, but I can't afford to pay double the cost of my FJR. I don't see that the R1200R has any advantages over my FJR except for less performance, higher costs, and less reliability . ;)

  • I wanted badly to test ride a VFR but never got the chance.
