Was 'Back for good' written for Robbie Williams, in the period of their last shilly-shallying before Rob left? And ... have you ever seen two guys being as lovely as they are? N.B:

(*) as you know, Gas tried to call Rob in 2003, near Christmas. He - supposition - has probably listened to the song "I tried love" and the lines "does God ever get it wrong? where has Gary Barlow gone? why is Christmas day so long?" (the only serious lines of that song ..) and he understood Rob's pain. In fact, Gas said to Josie (Rob's assistant) that he wanted to give up the fight between them before another Christmas had gone by. And Rob, questioning Josie about Gary's words, focused on the Christmas detail. In fact, after Josie told him about the content of the call, he asked Josie - again - if Gary had said just those words, 'before another Christmas had gone by'. BTW, Rob didn't find the strength to call him back. But he wrote 'Ghosts' immediately just after that call (January - February 2004). The line "I've read your mind and tried to call, my tears could fill the Albert Hall" included in the song Shame has probably to be referred to this try, to this call which happened in 2003.

Here it is the the original song text fo Back for good (Rob's changes STRESSED):

I guess now it's time for me to give up [TO THROW UP]
I feel it's time
Got a picture of you beside me
Got you're lipstick mark still on your coffee cup [UH...WASH IT-UP!]
Got a fist of pure emotion
Got a head of shattered dreams
[WHY NOT] Gotta leave it, gotta leave it all behind now

Whatever I said, whatever I did I didn't mean it
I just want you back for good
Whenever I'm wrong just tell me the song and I'll sing it
You'll be right and understood

Unaware but underlined I figured out this story
It wasn't good
But in the corner of my mind I celebrated glory [I CONTEMPLATED A FOREPLAY]
But that was not to be
In the twist of separation you excelled at being free
Can't you find a little room inside for me?

Whatever I said, whatever I did I didn't mean it
I just want you back for good
Whenever I'm wrong just tell me the song and I'll sing it
You'll be right and understood

And we'll be together, this time is forever
We'll be fighting [NO MORE FIGHTING] and forever we will be
So complete in our love
We will never be uncovered again

Whatever I said, whatever I did I didn't mean it
I just want you back for good
Whenever I'm wrong just tell me the song and I'll sing it
You'll be right and understood
I want you back for good

I guess now it's time, that you come back [THAT YOU'LL BE BACK] for good.
