If we continue to live the way we do today, will our environment be able to sustain us in ten years? In this documentary, people will hopefully gain a better understanding of what sustainability is. In the opinions of peers, sustainability is trying to maintain the resources we have for future generations. The Greek community is an avid supporter of recycling. Activities such as recycling beer cans after a party shows how something very small can help conserve the environment. An incentive for recycling is earning money for the recyclables they turn in. There are many small things that we as individuals can do to help conserve our environment, such as turning off lights when we leave a room, unplugging things use electricity when they are not in use, taking shorter showers, walking or riding a bike to class instead of driving, and recycling. Clearly this issue is becoming more popular, even younger generations understand the concept of going green. Schools are implementing programs that encourage kids to recycle and save water and electricity. Auburn is also taking steps toward improvement by putting recycle bins around campus and having multiple sorted recycling containers, having paperless tickets for football games, for example, among other things. However, in some parts of the world and in our own country we see some sad pictures. The Pacific Oceans Great Garbage Patch contains huge amounts of trash moved by the current to cover an area twice the size of Texas. This is devastating to marine life in this region. Efforts are being made to clean up the trash but the amount is so large it could take a very long time. but if we make and effort, we can make a change.
