It's the history of Prem (Salman Khan) and Nisha (Madhuri Dixit). Prem is learning business under his elder brother Rajesh (Mohnish Behl) and his uncle Kailashnath (Alok Nath), both are successful businessmen. Nisha is the darling of her elder sister Pooja (Renuka Shahane) and her parents. Prem met Nisha during the engagement ceremonies of Rajesh and Pooja. After several meetings they fell in love in each other, but fate dealt a cruel blow to their happiness with the sudden death of Pooja after having given birth to a baby. The father of Nisha suggests that she must get married to Rajesh to take the role of Pooja and to become mother of the baby. Nisha and Prem decide to sacrifice their love for the sake of their family...

The excellent music is by Ram Lakshman. The lyrics are by Dev Kohli.
