They must've thought he was God, Himself, at this point.. lol..

My favorite movie of all-time. I love watching Max Mercy- " I know this guy from somewhere, but where"?
-
God, this is when baseball was baseball! I would have loved to play back then, take the trains, and stay in the classy hotels!

Damn fine acting all the way around...incredibly understated.

The look on Duvalls face was priceless. He knows he remembers this guy from somewhere??? But dosent think its possible....

@hazelwood55 The sound of train in the background helps a bit also to plant that thought in the viewer's head.

Great work in the editing of this scene. I love it when they cut back to Duvall's empty chair at the end of this scene. The audience instantly knows that he now remembers who Hobbs is and that his story is gonna come out now.

Whenever I see some athlete that thinks he's bigger than the game(T.O., LeBron, Randy Moss etc.) I always think of what Mercer says to Hobbs. "They come and they go Hobbs. They come and they go, but this game is here forever.". How true!

This is up there for best mood set in movie history. Whilst some may call it a bit cheesy, I call it beautiful. Even the title gives it an aura. Great spot on the train too by the way...
Greatest baseball movie ever

I have a hard, crusty heart, but man, this movie gets to me every time. Scene after scene, I get goosebumps--even 27 years later. The scene at Wrigley Field is my favorite--I tear up every time. BTW, I love the look on the face of the catcher at the end of the scene.
