Of ALL the times for my usually dependable GoPro cam to quietly crap out, it would have to be on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity (or at least once a year if this www.paddlethelariver.org program is deemed successful) to kayak a 2-mile stretch of the Los Angeles River between Balboa Boulevard and the Sepulveda Dam. So instead of a timelapse capturing the whole amazing experience, all I've got is these first 130 frames that were snapped at the very beginning in the slow-moving waters west of our launch point as everyone in our group got acclimated to our boats. It's better than nothing, but knowing what the dead camera missed and how I might not be able to capture it again, I can't help but be bummed out and hopeful that the program is allowed to continue next year -- because I'll certainly do it again.
@eytoa I don't understand. Do you mean did I get motion sickness?

@digablesoul We got in the water around 11 a.m. and were out a couple hours later. Getting over the three rocky "rapids" areas is done with the assistance on the excellent staff, but there is one where boaters do have to exit their craft and crab walk a short distance down some rocks to the bottom and then get back in. The water had a fair share of trash in it (bottles, cans, paper plates, food packaging etc), but there was nothing in the way of a bad odor. It was indeed an amazing experience!

Too bad about the GoPro but it still looks like amazing experience. I just saw the list and they are all sold out. Out of curiosity, how long was the whole experience... getting over the rocky areas and such? Water... didn't smell that bad being in there? I would so do this if they do it next year.
