Vision
Born in Inglewood, California and raised in the neighboring city of Los Angeles, California, Cory Jones has always felt a call to serve this present age. Throughout his years, he has been active in his church, local, and academic communities. After graduating from high school in 1997, Cory Jones was accepted and attended the prestigious University of California, Berkeley. While at UC Berkeley, Cory Jones began his ministry pursuit. With passion in his pursuit, Cory Jones served the Greater St. Paul Baptist Church in Oakland, California as associate minister, college minister, and later became youth pastor there. As youth pastor, he established summer youth programs, teen summits, along with many other programs and activities.
Cory Jones graduated from UC Berkeley in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology. With that degree behind him, he furthered his education at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, Georgia. While at ITC, Cory Jones was Morehouse School of Religion president, National Baptist Student Union president, and a Theta Phi honor society member. In addition to receiving the Isaac R. Clark Preaching Award, Cory Jones graduated from ITC in May 2004 with honors and earned the highest grade point average in the Morehouse School of Religion. He was also awarded with the Briggs New Testament Award for top student within his department upon graduation. He is currently a doctoral student at Beeson Divinity School at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.
Cory Jones has received numerous awards and has been active in many collegiate and community organizations. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated and works along many other organizations for social improvement. He was recently featured in the Summer 2009 Edition of the African American Pulpit and he was chosen to participate in Project Rising Sun, a program for young African American leadership sponsored by the Fund for Theological Education. Cory Jones is a much sought after speaker. He has spoken for churches, schools, and various organizations. He is a preacher, teacher, workshop leader, and motivational speaker. He is currently the Co-Pastor at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church in Atlanta and is married to his beautiful wife, Torri Durham Jones.
In 2010, Cory Jones started a nonprofit organization called Operation Xposure. Operation Xposure seeks to expose young people to the possibilities in life.
Operation Xposure
Exposure is the key! Many of our youth face a dismal future because of a lack of exposure. Operation Xposure has a positive outlook on our young people. We believe that if youth are exposed to the great possibilities in life, they will choose the positive alternatives rather than the roads that lead to a life of drugs, streets, incarceration, and poverty.
Our goal is to expose them to various skill sets as well as various opportunities that all contribute helping young people reach their destiny. The "X" in "Xposure" represents the numerous avenues that lead to our success. We will expose them to cultures outside of their own. We will expose them to the many educational opportunities available to them as well as the career paths education leads to. In addition, we will expose them to important life skills as well as money management skills.
We envision young people being exposed to a world that has been hidden from them; a world they were told was unrealistic for them. We envision young people being exposed to the possibilities of culture, education, success, and financial security. Through positive exposure, we believe all of this can happen!
