all who stepped to the plate to play this role were good,but this role will always belong to the great voice of ms. betty buckley. she had that effortless open chest and throat approach to this song. while I do like ms. lupone on other things "evita" was her when she did it. the way this song was written one needed to have their voice opened all the time, and i imagine that would take a toll after singing it night after night. each time i heard patti perform this song it seemed forced.

What's that on her head? Was she attacked by Indians or trying to dress like them? Anything to take attention away from her singing I guess. At least you can understand the lyrics. I'm not surprised she was replaced. Can't believe she was ever hired.
