  • Her funeral was a private family funeral so

I`m not sure what you are inferring when you say only a handful were there? I believe this is report from the gutter press? More than a dozen of her family from the North of England were there together with those who had shared her life in her latter years - her friends and staff from the home together with some old friends , her agent and her accountant. So basically everyone who needed to be there was there.

  • rip you gave us a lot of laughter

  • A very funny woman, loved her in nearest dearest, got the complete dvd series this Christmas , thinking about getting not on your nellie , any one know if it's as good as nearest and dearest?

  • "What are we today,then,Gilbert?"

"Have you been our Walter? I say, have you beeeeen?"

    Bless her,a real treasure.

  • Yes and that was a CRACKER of a Film in its' time, I remember watching it all those years ago @atlast1948.

Funnily enough I was watching some clips from it on You Tube the other day and it hasn't lost its' grit and 60s feel to it. Do you remember Hylda with Cynthia who was obviously a man and she used to say to "her" tell them about it Cynthia, do you remember Cynthia and then she would talk about it all herself!!

  • She knows, you know!!!

  • @atlast1948 She was in Up the junction with Dennis Waterman,Maureen Lipman,Alfie Bass & Queenie Watts.

  • Would've loved to have attended some of her raucous parties in Blackpool. True Northern star.

  • Hylda was great in Nearest and Dearest. I think that she'd had a few drinkies before this interview.

  • I think there is the first signs of Alzheimers, she seems a bit confused and forgetful.
