I don't like how death's personality is in this game, I mean, he never actually tries to get people to kill themselves in the books :S

I don't think he's trying to get people to kill themselves in a bad way. he just likes his job... and Rincewind is one of his jobs.

But "Colour of Magic" explained that it wasn't Death, but some demon who substituted him while he was busy with plague in Pseudopolis.

@Highstar25 This is more of the earlier version of Death, where he wanted people to die and was angry that Rincewind kept escaping him.

Death's personality in the first book with Rincewind was rather different from later books. I think Pratchett was still developing his style and characters back then. Since, Death has become a different and a lot more sympathetic person.
