The colorful knitted blankets known as "afghans" were originally patterned after centuries old textiles from Afghanistan. Hand knitting these wool blankets is an ancient art that is still widely practiced today. VOA's George Dwyer reports on an American woman who has organized hundreds of volunteers to produce handmade "Afghans" in gratitude to American service men and women serving in places like Iraq and Afghanistan

  • thats so sweet!!!

  • Well, you can either wait to be attacked and think the world will love you just cuz you're nice, or you can get real about the fact that some folks want to hurt you - and some folks want to protect you from them.

  • That is just a true Blessing!! I am a knitter (beginner) and when I learn a little more of knitting I am going to send some over that way! GOD BLESS THE TROOPS AND LORD... KEEP THEM SAFE ! ! !! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

  • anything that supports war can't be made with love, no matter on whose side you are
