My new Rode NT1-a Microphone arrived this morning from Pink Noise Systems (thanks guys!).

Here's the unboxing. The little rubber XLR padding ring Rode normally ship out with their mics wasn't in there, so going to have to give 'em a call and see if they'll mail me one out.

Had a bit of a play with it earlier using the Tascam DR-100 recorder I picked up last week. Man that is some gorgeous sound (but not with my voice, obviously). Fortunately the wife worked in radio, had an on-air show and did ad voiceovers for several years, so I have a guinea pig. :)

Update : The lovely folks at Rode UK/HHB/Source Distrobution are sending me out a replacement padding ring to firm up the XLR cable connection a bit. Ain't they great? :)

  • Thanks for the video. I just ordered one, exited! Would you say the shock mount is good quality?

  • @ultimatefilms21 The shock mount itself is pretty good. But the connector that holds the pop shield on isn't so sturdy. It's too easy to rip the screw threads out.

  • is normal for a pin XLR connector protrudes from the rest of the other two pins of the microphone? please answer. thanks

  • hi, I'm just wondering why everyone are pronouncing "Røde" as "Roaeud"?

  • Du tust mir leid bei dem Denglish hier XD!

  • Thanks to your video I was able to confirm that I was sold a counterfeit NT1a. It sucks so bad. I was really happy when it arrived but now I am in a rage.

The box looks okay but the sticker looks poorly done( logo missing pieces). Instead of foam protecting the mic It was a foam thing holding the mic and a piece of cardboard holding it in. The actual mic is missing the black ring at the bottom and instead shows "Rode Nt1-a" "Serial #" and "made in Australia" printed in silver. The shock mount

  • my rode nt1-a wont work i tried any mic that i have on the same cabel and m-audio fast track but on the rode i dont get any sound do you have any idea of why this is happening???

  • Does It Come With Recording Software ?

  • @ DIYFilmUK i have this mic.....but i dont get the same quality on the higher notes like i get in the lower notes.....can u please tell me the reason for this....

is it the basic character of this mic or is it something to do with the mixing.........

  • @DIYFilmUK Ahh okay.. well mine has arrived and I've had it for about a week and a half.. I'm liking it.. I think the pop sheild mount will last for now.. thanks for the reply :) It's great sounding too :)

  • @8x50scope It's a studio mic, it doesn't usually rain indoors. ;)
