@AutoTopnl Furthermore, Volvo was a Ford product until January 2010. So anything Volvo did well from about the early 1990s to 2010 was an American product. Now Volvo is owned by a chinese company Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.

@AutoTopnl Not true. The turbo charged 260 HP/ 260 lb-ft 2.0L I-4 Cobalt SS was faster than any Volvo of its day. In fact, it was faster than the Ford Mustang GT, Subaru STI and Mitsubishi Evo of the same year.

Impressive photography, oh, and excellent car!

I believe the exhaust is slightly different, but otherwise this is the same engine found in the Volvo S40 T5 - 227bhp.
Engine noise is identical to the Volvo, exhaust note is slightly louder in the ST (ford's doing)

Is that really a volvo heart under the bonnet? I was actually really proud of ford for developing a turbo hatch, but what, their engineers couldnt handle the task. still a cool ass looking car.

@willister54 Yes, it really is.. Ford, or any other American manufacturer, has never produced a good and fast "small" engine..

@AutoTopnl not entirely..they took the block of the same engine and did produce all the other elements of the engine ;-)
Performance/sound-wise it's a big difference aswell , thanks to ford's fine-tuning .

@TheAMGLover Believe me.. you're wrong. It's completely volvo.. Only the Focus RS has a Ford parts engine..
