Jerry Lewis sings his signature song, "You'll Never Walk Alone" and collects a record $65 million in pledges and contributions to his 43rd annual MDA Labor Day Telethon.

@9162vb48 @johnissoevil oh God forbid he give a good performance for the sake of people dying of some horrible incurable disease. If the lighting isnt right, then the lighting isnt right. If the sound is off, then the sound is off. He has been a performer for longer than you have been alive. Your argument is invalid.

When Jerry sings this stupid song, he insults the intelligence of anyone with an IQ over 5.
He usually prefaces the song with abrupt, condescending remarks to the stagehands -- the lighting is not right, the sound is off. Indeed, his narcissistic, phony sincerity is to be taken with the utmost seriousness!
If you search here on YouTube - "martin short jerry lewis french genius" - you'll see Martin Short parody Jerry Lewis' phony sincerity -- complete with insults to "his people."

Let's face it, the reason why the MDA telethon raised as much money as it did was because of Jerry Lewis. They will, unfortunately, have a very difficult time raising money, not only because of the economy but because of Jerry not being there any longer. Not a good move on MDA's part.

I've been a camera operator the local MDA telethon out of Orlando, fl for the last 3 years. Before that I was a cable puller for 2 years. Despite working 27 hours over labor day weekend and sacrificing my bbq time I'd rather be no other place. Jerry's kids deserve my time and my talents and I'll keep doing it for them for as long as I can....and I'm still a young man. See ya next labor day!
