  • Thank you for sharing your video. She is beautiful. You are blessed. My daughter was struck with HIE as well but it occured earlier in the pregnancy.

  • Hi there...I just watched your video about your precious little girl. My heart breaks for you. I know that we are incredibly lucky for Ellie's outcome and I pray, every day, for families and children who have had to endure so much more than we have.

  • What an inspiration!

My daughter is 5 months old and diagnosed with HIE stage 3. We were told the worst. She was also cooled at birth, within 2 hours. She went without oxygen for aroun 2 mins. We beleive the cooling saved her life. So far she is meeting all of her milestone. She has hearing loss caused by the HIE. Your video provides hope to those of us going through this difficult experience. Thankyou for sharing, Ellie is absolutely beautiful.

I'm so glad to know that your daughter was also saved by the cooling! I know the early months of worry you're going through all too well. After the cooling, we were told that Ellie did have a brain injury and that she'd most likely have a disability, but she is 100% healthy today. The newborn / infant brain is amazing to me in it's ability to compensate for damage, and the fact that your daughter was cooled w/in 2 hours is so positive for her outcome.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this. My son was born 11 days ago and wasn't breathing on arrival. After many scary hours and days were to told he had HIE and it had caused damage to a part of his brain. Thankfully, the doctors used the cooling treatment on him right away. While we are in the early stages of this, his brain is functioning normally and he seems like a healthy newborn. Ellie is beautiful, and we are grateful that children like her have paved the way for children like my son.

  • Thank you for sharing this. Our daughter had complex seizure @ 17 mos and suffered from HIE as a result. It's been just over a year since the insult she incurred as a result of the HIE, but she is making substantial progress towards recovery. She still has a ways to go, but we're confident that she'll make a full recovery. Even with the faith my wife and I have in Ella's recovery, seeing this video makes my heart happy. Thanks again.

  • My daughter was also born with HIE. She was born via C-section for failure to progress and the OB, very unexpectedly, found her in distress. She was put on full cooling therapy and transferred to a much better hospital. Doctors didn't think she was going to make it because she had seizures and very few reflexes but once they started warming her and gave her an MRI, they discovered she really wasn't as bad as they thought. Three months later, she is meeting her milestones with a very mild palsy.

  • I can not thank you enough for sharing 'Elles' story. My son was born 16 weeks ago and suffered hypoxia at birth,he was cooled for 72 hours,we did not know if he would survive.A member of my family forwarded Elle's story to us, our stories were identical, you gave us so much hope, and helped carry us through the darkest days of our lives. Thanks to the pioneering research into HIE and cooling our son is meeting and exceeding his developmental milestones. We remain cautiously optimistic. x

  • Thank you for sharing this video. Good to know that there's hope if this happens to a baby. I just hope this facility is available here in the Philippines.

  • My niece was born just this past April with HIE. She wasn't breathing for 15 minutes. She was put on a cooling blanket. They told us she would have no quality of life. She is almost 3 months and does have hearing loss and some tightness in her limbs but the neurologist says it can still improve. She is already smileing and babbling and is truly a miracle! Thanks for giving hope from your video. I have a video of my niece posted.

  • We went through the same thing with our little girl, cooling and being told that she has severe brain damage. Nevertheless we were still hoping that she would be OK. She is 15 months now, and intellectually she is developing normally, which was our main worry. She does have Cerebral Palsy, and it breaks my heart watching your video that we weren't as lucky as you. Your little girl is beautiful, thank you for sharing your story.
