Barack Obama has moved on from Chicago onto the White House. In the meantime, his hometown has been crumbling in poverty and unemployment. RT's Anastasia Churkina travels to the forgotten turned dangerous neighborhoods of the city.

  • and there is still a war in afghanistan

  • This country was so much better in the 50's

  • Honestly there is a lot of poverty, but they showed the absolute worst neighborhoods - 85% of the city doesn't look like that.

  • 2 classes--rich and poor...

  • You can all thank O----what the fucks his name.

  • @streetrace442 It is not the Liberals in charge. It is Wall Street. The government is all Wall Street. All this shit is by design.

  • Shareholders don't care 'bout communites. Don't care about local industry or jobs. But they DID care about selling off those assets that kept us ALL in work and out of poverty.

How dare people try to blame industrial decline on socialism. There wasn't even the faintest atom of socialism. Perhaps if there were - those industries would still be alive and maintained.

Money can't exist in and of itself. People have to PRODUCE cars or solar panels or something tangible. ugh!

    Greed.

  • It was privileged management and privileged union bosses who sold up shop and made a lot of money.

I didn't see many bailouts for the shipping industry or any industry were people actually made palpable and useful objects and materials.

    Were was their bailout?

You can't live on virtual money. Shareholders are the No.1 destroyer of communities and industries. For goodness sake take a look at detroit and chicago.

Socialism? Where? You're being dishonest about privilege.

  • @telemetry9 Maybe the unions shouldn't have tried forcing absurdly uneconomic wage rates upon them. You are right, they said the hell with it, and left the country.

How are companies suppose to "care about communities" when they can't make a profit. We workers have to sell them on the profitability of setting up shop here.
