A dream cast of singers and Bernstein at his best. Doubt if this could be matched today. The sound is deadful, but it;s really good in the Libera Me upload from the same performance?

Some say that Bernstein's conducting was too flambouyant but if you watch him here you can see that every gesture has meaning and his beat is so clear that it's no wonder orchestras loved to perform for him.
