@Jam3zzz no because on the older sleds, 340 to a 440 the pipes were identical, we'll use 1978 exciters as a example the pipes, same for both the exhaust manifold has a dimple to change airflow rate n stuff same with yamaha gpx's srx's mercury trail twisters mercury snowtwisters pretty sure the 1973 skidoo blizzards the 340 and 440's are identical, i've seen plenty of guys who put 440's pipes on 340's motors and race the piss out of em' no damageand they are smarter than most the people I know

anyone know what pipes i could put on my 1978 arctic cat jag 340? im in really big need of a change!

nothing like a vintage! sick pipes also man

@Invisable08Racing Excuse me dude, but a pipe is a pipe, and 2 strokes are all the same. It will not hurt the engine, the pipe just changes where the motor makes power, your dad is obviously retarded. :) have a nice day.

Sounds really good, did you have to jet the carbs at all? Im doin an exaust mod to my Kawasaki.
-
nice how much did it cost you for all the stuff you put into it. and how much was the sled?
Just to play the other side for a wee bit, but isn't each pipe tunned for each engine to improve volumetric efficiency by using a kind of "reverse" scavenging effect? I'm just getting into engine mechanics but I thought that each pipe was specifically tunned to each engines specific volumetric flow and the dynamics of that flow. So wouldn't switching pipes all willy nilly give a random and possibly negative effect?

@Cameron1177 yes you are mostly correct. But i reasearched all of this and asked many people and the txl pipes are the same as centurion pipes. centurion pipes are extremely similar to indy 600/650 pipes. so in theory i basically have a set of TXL pipes. might not be perfect but they are very close

Dude you shoundn't run those pipes on that Sled Just because they Fit Doesn't mean that Engine was Made to Run those pipes no matter how lean or rich u make it run yeah it might sound good but it really doing Damage to your engine only 650 pipes work on 650 and only 340 work on 340 trust me my Dad works on sleds every day and his dads been working on sled since the day polaris and cats came out

@Invisable08Racing excuse me? apparently you know jack shit. indy 650 pipes are almost the same as 600 pipes, which are the same as centurion pipes. you probably dont know what a centurion is but i will inform you because im such a nice guy, it was a 500 liquid triple made in virtually the txl chassis. now these centurions used the exact same piston as a txl. the 600 was almost identical. so thanks for commenting

ill hopefully have a vid up of it running form sometime this winter, sounds wicked when its being driven

ya sound like ur needle needs to be leaned and ur man jet cuz those pipes tend to richen ur motor
zbadass650 2 years ago
it was only runnign rich because it was very hot out, as soon as winter hits im going to be jetting up a couple sizes and playing with the main jet until i get a good setup
