  • Hi Otenga: Kanda didn't have his own band with him so he was trying real hard to make it perfect. They only an two hours to practice! Kanda was so worried he did not want me to make the video tape! Promoter Lubangi Muniania and star singer Malage de Lugendo intervened on my behalf and Kanda said ok. These champion musicians never have a bad show - !! So now enjoy the first wide-screen, HD recording ever made of a Congolese band in performance - !! And they did a great, great job!!

  • Talking to a learned Congolese Music proffesori the other day I was given the impression that MALAGE DE LUGENDO is legend of Congolese music to some extend is not given the respect he deserves in some circles of Congolese music. Thank you very much for this recording.

  • Malage is one of the greatest voices ever of Congolese music. He is a big star. Malage was very young when he joined T.P. OK Jazz. The great hits he recorded with Franco are more than 20 years old but Malage is still quite young. We were lucky to have him here in New York last year. Malage was originally brought to Franco's attention by guitarist Shiko Mawatu, who lives here. Malage and Shiko remain close friends. Malage lives in Belgium now.

  • Thank you very much your educative and enlighting comments about Congolese Music. This is the Music I am extremely passionate about even though I am not Congolese.I grew up listening to Rochelou and Afrisa and Franco and T.P. OK Jazz. It remains one of my dreams to walk around the streets of Matonge.Thank you.

  • Kanda is a professional musician. He knows his roots. I like to hear unselfish musicians like Kanda. Enough respect, I am not Congolese but a Zimbabwean. Proudly African.

  • Amutanga, i like your spirit "truly African" that is the right phrase. I'm not congolese too, but love listening to Soukous, Makossa, Ndombolo... Kanda is indeed an African musical legend. He needs to be honoured...
