  • Ladies and gentlemen. For those of you that chose to leave some nasty comments, undertand this: the difference between the world you currently live in and a Hobbesian "state of nature" is the protection that men like General McChrystal provide. NO country is able to ensure their citizens' dignity and freedom without the mechanisms to stop outside forces that threaten those values.

  • a lot of haters on here. this man can make decisions when most of us would be shitting bricks. years of training and facing danger. whatever side of the political fence you sit on you have got to accept that he has learnt things that most people never will. imo that is worth listening to.

  • @neosoc That is QUEER BEER.....But he is an officer so that is to be expected.

  • I couldn't imagine Joshua Chamberlain, Robert E. Lee, or Ulysses Grant becoming motivational speakers for white-collar yuppie assholes after their military careers ended.

What the hell happened to this country?

  • I was on the drop zone when he jumped Sep 11, 2001 as part of the Airborne and Special Operations Test Directorate - he jumped with the XVIII Airborne Corps commmander - we took pictures and he jumpied with our unit. We called the the plane prior to the jump to inform them what had just happened and the CG decided to jump. We got pictures of most eveyone as they jumping, and my boss later had one picture of the CG blown up and he signed it with gold pen so he would know where he was on 9-11.

  • to bad this guy lied about pat tillman, lied to his family, and tried to cover it up. thank god obama accepted his resignation. scumbag.

  • 150 people suck the AIDS out of Taliban cock.

  • Inspiring

  • @pastorrichwitmer Blindly defending anyone with tired cliches is going to be ineffectual in swaying me. I stand by my comment. Leadership skills are leadership skills whether held by angels or demons, was my point. Using a piece of propaganda like 'freedom isn't free' to justify shitty behavior or choices isn't impressive at all. Unless one wants to highlight their hypocrisy.

  • @098anne Anyone who compares Gen. McChrystal to Bin Laden is a fool. Freedom isn't free. From the U.S. to the world: You're welcome (whether you asked for it or not).

  • How strange! My experience in the Air Force as an F-16 pilot convinced me that far and away the finest, most selfless, responsible, and courageous individuals were found in the military.

I find it ironic that you sign off with "Peace". How is it maintained? By Diplomacy? Who would have stopped Hitler's atrocities and Japan's imperialistic ambitions? The Peace Corps? Demonstrators in Washington Square?

How bright do you think the future would have been for humanity had Hitler

    triumphed?
