This video shows the new dead simple linkage that activates the displacer piston. The crank pin is from the pedal of an old excercise bike. It has ball bearings at both ends of the tube so it has no problem with the side loads caused by the offset at the the top of the conrod.
As you can see it is still very much a work in progress but I am very impressed so far - it still does not have a cooler and you can see how far down the heat has spread. Imagine how well it could run with a propperly insulated burner assembly and a water jacket at the bottom!
You will have to excuse the noise - I temporarily wired a block of steel to the flywheel to help counterbalance and rattles and 'dings'

Hope it was worth waiting for, subscribers. Im sorryit took this long to update.
(if you havent already go and see my other vids and the evolution of my engines)
Thanks.

  • rings where removed? is run air helum or hydrogen?

  • @eloid777

yes, the piston rings were removed to reduce friction - at such low pressures the reduction of friction is far more important than airtiught seals,

It is simple engine, running on air at atmospheric pressure - the bottom end is open the atmosphere.

  • Congrats!

An interesting and very practical series of developments.

    What timing are you using?

Thanks for so much More Info. Good thinking!

  • Thank you.

The cranks are 90 deg, but it is infinitely adjustable as the flywheel is locked to the shaft with a screw. - I assume this is what you mean by timing? it is certainly something to experiment with as I think I read that heinrici engines had a different angle.

    Thanks for your interest.

  • SUPERBE realisation. Avec quelques roulements a billes ca ferai moins de bruit !Bravo.

  • @Valvechest

I like to make one but like to run it on pure hydrgen or heleum, in this case u need the piston rings...

anyone see mod like this on youtube?

  • that looks like a bicycle peddle.

    for a bearing.. neat idea..

  • while your machine lacks the fine machining of an Andy Ross machine, it certainly shows some very nice simple engineering.

thanks for giving the rest of us some hope!

  • very cool

    nice concept

  • Now build a Deathstar.

  • I like the counterwieght wired to the flywheel it gives the project a character of it's own. Execllent work!

  • Nice Work. You use Hydrogen or simple air?
