The Waterhouse project is a site-specific, ritual performance investigatinghow we create a sense of place, and how we can repattern our movement--both our personal movement, and our collective 'movement'--to be more sustainable, and more fun. Nala Walla (artistic director, WA) and Mark Lakeman architectural director, OR) collaborate frequently on ecosomatic projects of this type.

The felt-experience and the artistry of the building process was the main purpose of the project, instead of the building itself.Bodywork, song, live drawing, hulahooping, games, stories and of course, naps, were intentionally integrated into the project.

That the Waterhouse building has turned out to be both beautifuland functional is considered to be a pleasant side-effect and archive of what is essentially an experiential art project.

Waterhouse: We put the party back in "workparty."
