I filmed this exhibition of Moe Norman on September 18, 1998 at a driving range north of Toronto. Dear friend and excellent teacher, Mark Evershed, arranged the demonstration. I was in Toronto with some members of my current SoCal club. Moe was all over the news at this time as he was featured in Golf Digest not long before this exhibition. Wally Uhlein of Acushnet sponsored Moe with a monthly stipend to help him be a little more comfortable at his elderly age. As you can see by watching the video, he has a minor personality disorder making him a little uncomfortable. He was at his most comfortable hitting balls and talking golf as seen in this video.

Enjoy the video. He was truly a special person and golf misses him. There are a lot of great "Moe-isms" to hear and the most repeatable swing EVER to watch.

Cheers,

  • Martin, how far was he hitting? Thanks for posting.

  • @mesarock2vh Moe was flying his driver 250 with ease. He says 300 and 400, but it was 250. Pretty darn good for a guy in his late 60's.

  • Very interesting video. I was intereted that he advocates the right hand to grip the club through the palm, when conventional teaching suggests that it should be held more in the fingers. What is your take on Moe's swing and what should we take from it.??

  • @davidcouch007 What can we take from Moe's swing? That there are not too many ways to use the club correctly yet it can be wrapped in a body motion that looks very different from others. Moe had great command of the golf club and "it swung him" as he said. As far as his grip, this is his preference. Hogan argued the other way.

  • Are all those drivers without a tee?

    Amazing, thanks for posting.

  • @dinorell Moe was hitting 4-wood for a lot of the shots.

  • Only 15 people to see the greatest ball striker that ever lived? Shame. smh.

  • @cloranstreetkid That's because you CAN'T teach it, lol.

  • "Who has got the guts to stand on the first tee and look like that?" Evershed... "I teach parts of it, but I'd go broke teaching that."

  • "I'd go broke teaching that..." Evershed.

  • Thanks Martin, my buddy Boulton sent me this link, and I rushed home to watch the whole video. You filmed some angles I've never seen before and they were real eye-openers!! Thanks for sharing this priceless moment of genius.

  • what a treat to watch this guy.....thanks
