"The Final Obligation, Chapter 1: Once an Eagle"

In the award ceremony of the Eagle Scout, the newly inducted Eagle is told his new obligations: to live with honor, loyalty, and courage, but also that "the final obligation of the Eagle Scout is service". This message becomes the title of the adventure that carries Eagle Scout, Army veteran and filmmaker Paul Madariaga on a journey across America to put that service into action, showcasing his travels on a shoestring budget documentary with himself as the only crew.

Throughout this quest he shows through his example and - more importantly - that of his fellow Scouts and Scouters, the values of volunteering, helping others, conservation, and outdoor skills, as well as talking with others about how these actions, and Scouting in general, helps all those it touches.

The first chapter forms a calm before the storm, where we gain insight into Scouting from Paul's discussions with a Scout council executive, a Scoutmaster with seventy years of Scouting experience, and an Eagle Scout who has put his background into national service on the seas.

The next chapter, filmed entirely on a POV camera, puts this theory of Scouting into active practical application...on a cycling trip through Utah.
