I've got the same issue running Interpid Ipex, and it happens regardless of compiz or kwin.

I had a problem with KDE4 and Compiz Fusion conflicting once. I'm running Gnome now, but I remember having some problems with KDekorator and Compiz at that time. I ended up running the KDE effects instead though.

Thats a Nvidia driver bug, it happens to most people with openoffice and kde 4, I think Nvidia knows about the problem but they r not doing anything to fix it.
