Larry Wessels, director of Christian Answers/Christian Debater (YouTube channel: CANSWERSTV, websites: BIBLEQUERY.ORG, HISTORYCART.COM & MUSLIMHOPE.COM) debates Steve McCalip, author & producer of "KingJamesVideoMan," on the subject of WHO did Jesus die for. Bob L. Ross, leading publisher of Charles Haddon Spurgeon (please check official website: PILGRIMPUBLICATIONS.COM), is the moderator. Educational backgrounds of debaters: Wessels- Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin, completed extension course taught by Dr. J.I. Packer of Regent College, Vancouver, Canada, studied virtually every book or tape produced by Walter Martin of the Christian Research Institute & Dr. R.C. Sproul of Ligonier Ministries, worked with Pilgrim Publications (C.H. Spurgeon) since 1990, attended Dayspring Fellowship of Austin, Texas (Pastor Jackson Boyett, www.dayspringchapel.org) since 1982. McCalip- Bachelor's degree from Baylor University, 2 Master's Degrees in Education from the University of Houston. Theological background: Wessels- Classical Protestant Reformed Doctine, Affirms the Trinity (Father , Son & Holy Spirit), McCalip- Arminian Doctrine, Denial of the Trinity, Affirms King James Bible only. A popular book out is entitled "History's Greatest Lies;" although this book doesn't mention the following it should have: Darwin's Evolution Theory, Global Warming, Muhammad was a prophet of God, the only true "church" is headed by a Roman Pope, etc. Another "greatest lie" would be to say Jesus died for people He did not indeed die for. There are only 3 possibilities: 1. Christ died to save all men therefore all are saved 2. Christ died to save no one in particular (men then must save themselves) or 3. Christ died to save a certain number (who God then actively saves) from eternal damnation in the Lake of Fire. This debate has been going on for centuries & in recent times has had more notoriety because of a book written by Dave Hunt of "The Berean Call" entitled, "What Love Is This?," which makes many of the same emotional Arminian arguments as Steve McCalip in this debate. Multnomah Publishers also produced a book entitled "Debating Calvinism" between Hunt & James R. White of Alpha & Omega Ministries. Ergun Caner of Islam fame has also taken issue with "The Five Points of Calvinism," namely: 1. Total Depravity, 2. Unconditional Election, 3. Limited Atonement, 4. Irresistible Grace, & 5. Perseverance of the Saints. The real question, ""Is God sovereign over man or is man's free will sovereign over God & His purposes?" Who is REALLY in control?
This is just a single episode of a 24 part (10 minute presentation) debate. To see this same 4 hour debate in 1 hour segments as it was originally recorded, copy & paste the following title into the YOUTUBE search box, "DID JESUS DIE FOR EVERYBODY WHO EVER LIVED OR NOT? DEBATE."

This is so simple yet sometimes men confuse the scriptures...all scriptures go along with one another John 3:16 and so on in the context is showing the Son died for the world world being those who believe on Him both Jews and Gentiles. One can't just use one scripture...scriptures is plural meaning more than one. I like reasoning not debates...smh

I agree with Larry Wessels.

@prn72271 You make the typical mistake with this passage that most religionists make that desire to have "works" as their savior rather than the SOVEREIGN GRACE OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS. Men are totally UNCOMFORTABLE with leaving their salvation in God's hands (Romans 9:18) & thus struggle mightily to avoid that by hoping their own "works" of faith & repentance will get the job done instead. Here you intentionally leave out Hebrews 6:9 "But, beloved ... things that accompany salvation." Context!

Hebrews 6:4For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
I heard a calvinisnt say "if you dont read things in context you can get conned by the text.

@prn72271 A person CANNOT REPENT unless GOD GRANTS repentance to the person in question, get it? God DOES NOT grant repentance to everyone, but only to some, get it? Those that truly repent are the ones who God had already given the POWER to repent because they COULD NOT do it with their own power, get it? Read 2 Timothy 2:25-26, "if God peradventure will give repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil" (sinners are trapped).

@CAnswersTV
There is no doubt to you but for me what you say is quite false. You have not put any holes in what I put forth as far as the word world.
I dont see where the verses you posted are pro election as you put forth.
Jesus said unless you repent you will likewise perish and all the while He knew that people couldnt repent. What is also ironic is that John the Baptist who prepared the way for Christ came preaching repentance and The Holy Spirit had not come yet.

@prn72271 There's no doubt about it your interpretation of the word "world" is completely false SINCE you're TRYING to FORCE your heretical ARMINIAN theology into Biblical passages without proper context overall. When scripture is compared with scripture you CANNOT interpret WORLD as meaning "every last man & woman in the world" as John 12:9 would refute this immediately. If God intended to save everyone (John 6:37) then they'll be saved. Christ died for the elect ONLY (Acts 20:28), no one else.

@CAnswersTV my intrepritation of the word whole is false? whole - holos - complete, all.
1 John 2:2 - the use of the word world is used - kosmou and this is the same word that Jesus uses in John 17:9 when he says he is praying for the world. Now this is a great calvinist scripture, how may I ask do you reconcile both? This same word is alo used in John 1:29, John 4:42.
Jesus is obviously the Savior of The WORLD.
I have listened to people debate this already.
Blessings!

@prn72271 Your interpretation of the "WHOLE of the Jews and Gentiles" is totally false. Please watch the entire 4 hour debate (type LARRY WESSELS on the homepage of GOOGLE VIDEO & look for the the 4 hour debate series entitled, "Did Jesus Die For Everybody Who Ever Lived? Debate" (Parts 1-4). See also our Youtube video "Debate: John 3:16, Does "World" Always Mean Everybody Who Ever Lived or Not?". Most people are LOST to hell (Matt 7:13-15). God doesn't DRAW everybody just some (Ex 9:12).

Are there any other apart from Jews and Gentiles?
The word WHOLE is the word that gives meaning to world.
Lets say right like how you believe - world means Jews and Gentiles.
He is the propitiation for the WHOLE of the Jews and Gentiles.
Also as far as The Father Drawing men, we can see that Christ was talking to a select few, the 12. However we would have to conclude that Judas was drawn also but was he saved at that point?
