J.J. Cale - Boilin' Pot (acoustic cover)

- This cover is my modest tribute to this great musician : J.J. Cale. "Boilin'Pot" is one of my favorite songs of J.J. Cale : simple, only two chords (D minor and C major) but a lot of musicality, evocative lyrics.

- J.J. Cale is a fabulous composer in rock music. He composed "Cocaine" and this song have been covered by Clapton in 1977. He has a unique style, mixing blues, country, rock, jazz. He is a wonderful guitarist, in a "finger picking" style.

- C'est une chanson très simple : il n'y a que deux accords (Ré mineur et Do majeur), mais quelle musicalité! Un vrai modèle de dépouillement harmonique allié à une superbe mélodie, qui donne au final une merveilleuse chanson en hommage au désir que peut susciter une femme! J.J. Cale est un formidable compositeur de chansons, un vrai "song writer". Il navigue entre différents genres musicaux (le rock, le blues, la country, mais aussi le jazz) tout en les intégrant dans un style qui lui est propre. Beaucoup de ses chansons ont été reprises. Clapton a rendu fameux "Cocaine" et en a fait du même coup un classique du rock.
J.J. Cale est aussi un guitariste complet assurant aussi bien en rythmique qu'en solo, jouant en "finger picking" (avec ses doigts et non avec un mediator) un peu à la manière de Mark Knopfler, mais en plus "brut". J.J. Cale est ce qu'il est convenu d'appeller un "musicien pour musiciens", pas forcément connu par un large public mais reconnu comme un grand par les musiciens.

Je n'ai pas encore vu toutes tes vidéos car je ne vienspas souvent, mais celle-là est excellente ! beaucoup de naturel et une très belle voix. Côté guitare, je ne m'y connais pas du tout, mais çà me semble tout aussi excellent... J'adore !

back in 2006 i really digged JJcale's tunes.. "Magnolia" "Sensitive kind"  and "Summer Breeze "got my ears alot .. after heard your version of "Boiling pot" i listened to JJcale's Boiling pot again.. now i like your version more!! . ^^ you can take it a complement!!
