I know this song has been done to death, but once two or three images popped in my head for these lyrics, I could not resist doing my own version.

The concept here is that each verse represents one level of villainy. The first verse is the bottom level, the villains who are not always that effective (which is why they are subdued easily in the transition to the next verse). The second verse showcases villains who are stronger than first level characters, but they are still not invulnerable. The third verse is about the top class of villains: strongly written, well performed, and near invincible. These transitions are marked by the fact that each level has one Sith and one version of the Joker.

Keep in mind that just because a villain is placed in one verse does not mean I think he or she is really at that level. There are some villains that I would have placed at different levels but are placed there because the image fit the lyric (examples are Scar, Shere Khan and Dr. Octopus).

I could not copy my DVDs of The Dark Knight and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and I could not get a copy of The Black Cauldron, so the clips with the Joker, the Horned King and one clip of Voldemort are of a lesser quality than everything else.

I claim nothing in this video except the placement of clips. The movies and TV shows used here are the property of 20th Century Fox, Columbia Pictures, Disney, DreamWorks, MGM, Miramax, New Line Cinema, Nickelodeon, Paramount, Universal, and Warner Bros.

  • How could you think that Scar was on the low level! Scar was a awesome Villain. He should be up with the likes of Frollo and Maleficent. And how the heck does Count Dooku win over Darth Maul.

  • As I said in the description, just because a villain is placed in a certain level does not mean I think the villain deserves to be in that level. I put Scar in the third class verse because his two clips provided a suitable ending to the section. I do like him.

  • So what do you have to say about Darth Maul then?

  • Dooku's death scene is too short and uneventful for the musical pause between the first and second verses. Maul's death is lengthier, so it fills that space better.

  • SO well thought out! I must say I am impressed. And your selection of villains was just varied enough that I never settled into a groove; very disturbing one minute to see disney then star wars, Hannibal then Oz, Joker then Avatar. But the most delightfully disturbing part of it all was just-how-well they all fit together, you know? The clips never seemed to get in the way of the others.

    Bravo!

  • how did you upload these movieclips tinto a video? or how did you cget these movie clips onto your computer

  • voltaires awwwesome!! awesome vid

  • azula, hannibal, and joker ftw!

  • You're right, this song has been used and overused but this is an excellent version of the tribute to bad guys that we never forget. Too many of the other videos out there keep the same footage running. But this one has a generous selection of villians (I noticed some classic Disney foes in there--well done!) and keeps the editing quick and sharp.

  • NOSTALGIA CRITIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol wow you remembered to include loads of villains, even 3 versions of the Joker!

  • Man, this was really great. And that clip with Vader "It gets so lonely being evil" is the best. Of my favorite villains only some from Final Fantasy are not here :)

  • i agree, great with the variety. i was so ready for saruman to show up. thankyou!!!! that's one fo my favorites.

  • I love the variety in this movie! I am glad you have done your own version because most are the same three clips over and over again and it gets boring.
