Thought i'd put up a vid on the telescope in actual use.
Gives a better idea on how it's controlled (By my amazingly talented assistant).

  • how much would something like that cost to make from ordering the parts?

  • @jlg5778

Hmm, well i'd say around $200, the basic stamp 2 mcu the most of the cost, i payed $80 at radioshack,

the optics i got off ebay around $5 total, and the rest (stepper motors, mdf boards and sheet metal tube) easy to come by.

  • nice piece of art you have here .....keep up the good work, like it !

  • very cool good job guys

  • That is so awesome! I'm thinking about making my own telescope - nothing as sophisticated as this one, though. Great job! :)

  • well done! ;) you did a great job on the mechanics but also on electronics of that scope! if only i had a lathe too... i really repect people who operate such machines (lathes, mills etc) . they can make almost anything one needs. oh, and btw, your "amazingly talented assistant" does a fine job too :D clear skies!!

  • Well, not really... I'm a lathe operator at a plant close by.

..I'm always building something though :)

  • thats cool as hell
