i understand your frustrations.. I think you would be more akin to the Steve Albini approach to lyrics.. often his lyrics were nonsensical or silly in a dark way, because he believed rock should be kept simple and stupid (i mean that in a good way).. In the case of Fugazi, I never felt they were too preachy. Musically they had enough going on to keep me interested.. and especially in the case of this song, i think they liked the tradition of dub/reggae music as a means of protest music.
