Rabbi Jacques Cukierkorn of Temple Israel of Greater Kansas City, http://www.templeisraelgkc.com/ and on Facebook at http://on.fb.me/h9EV9O, discusses what a Jew looks like and dresses. He talks about a tallit (prayer shawl), how it should be worn and the importance of fringes. He also talks about a kippah or yarmulke. He stresses that one shows one's Judaism by his or her actions and not by how they dress. Visit Rabbi Cukierkorn's website at http://www.rabbicukierkorn.com.

The sad truth is that outside "Orthodoxy" Jews are disappearing fast. You see this is why God Himself commanded for us to wear the Tziztit, because as they say, You are what you wear" it is important how you present your self. God wanted the Jewish People to wear these four cornered garment, in order to remember that we are tied to him and what he wants us to do.

This guy is a Rabbi????
We have not abandoned the Mitzvah of Tzitzit ! We wear this under our shits at all times! Many allow the fringes to hand loose outside their pants to that "they may see the fringes and remember the commands of God".
The normative Jewish practice is to wear this garment called "Tallit Katan" that we wear under our clothes. We have also in recent years rediscovered the biblical thread of blue to each corner. Of the 4 corners 3 white and 1 of blue.

Actually the yarmulke or kippah became a custom in the first to early second century c.e. It became a LAW in Judaism about the 14th century c.e. The catholic clurgy saw Jews worshiping with the kippah and thought it would be a good use for the catholic preizt to

Interesting vid. I prefer liberal approaches in all religions, cos liberals acknowledge the fact that our world is ever changing and that we need to use our own mind in order to approach new problems with new solutions. What I'd be interested in though is: Why are women not supposed to or even allowed to wear a head covering?
