can you pleaaaase! tell me how a sprinkler valve works?

@Fez450 i made al lot of airguns and when i would be you i would make a steelchamber
i also would make a nice looking gun and not such a shit like many guys do
sry for my english i am from austria xD

Keep it simple at first, you can always build more later on. I recommend using a ball valve opened by hand, then designing a trigger/spring system to open the valve faster and make it more accurate. Next go on to a sprinkler valve and pneumatically operate it. Last of all, make your own valves, or go back and improve on your previous designs. Good Luck!

that looks awesome im making my first air gun.......
any tips since its my first one?

The chamber used to hold the air (for the shot) should hold as much volume as the total volume of the barrel. Since it is so much smaller in comparison, the pressure rapidly drops as it fills the barrel resulting in a muzzle pressure that is only a fraction of the orginal 200psi.

@iammrpope That all depends on what you are trying to achieve. For this airgun, I was shooting for efficiency, not power. The longer barrel gives the air more time to expend its energy on the ammunition, hence the quiet report. If its volume was the same as the air chamber, the dart wouldnt be moving very fast at all.

@theairgunman if you had a larger chamber you would be able to use much less pressure to get the same effect. You could measure the barrel volume and the chamber volume to determine the total pressure when the projectile leaves the barrel and set a regulator. I'm sure there is some "sweet spot" with relation of pressure to barrel volume to chamber volume to projectile weight that would yield optimum efficiency.

@iammrpope There certainly is a sweet spot for optimum efficiency. I try to use relatively higher pressures and lower volumes, as they are more efficient than lower pressure/high volume systems. I've gone up to 600 psi with my fridge compressor, for now that is the top range of what I use.

hey airguman, im starting my first air gun and and i was going to base it on this. do u have anything u would change on that idea to make it better then it already is? and can u send me some specs of it? thanks

@davidk8888 check my website, airgununiverse ~dot~ net. I've posted a page that shows a better version of this airgun. Good luck with your build, post a vid of it when you finish if you can.
