Even back in 2006, I saw that Chrysler, like GM, was faltering. After spending $225 million on ads featuring former Chrysler chairman Dieter "Dr. Z" Zetsche, Chrysler's profits were down 17%. Fast forward to 2009: three years later, current chair Robert L. Nardelli is being asked to forge a partnership with Fiat -- FIAT!! -- within 30 days to qualify for another $6 billion loan. GM's Wagoner has stepped down after a 32-year tenure: the auto industry is having a classic case of oversteer -- when will the spin stop?? Vid courtesy of NBC Universal (and me).
