Nightwish (demo) by Nightwish

The first song the band EVER recorded together.
This demo was made in the winter of 1996.
The band name was actually derived from this song.
After recording the Nightwish demo, Holopainen decided that Turunens operatic voice was too powerful for an acoustic band, and decided to add in heavy metal elements, including electric guitars and drums.
The song nor the pictures belong to me- I'm merely a fan. :]

@AndyB1286 Mmm, I also love Nightwish, old and new (though I only got interested with their recent stuff with Annette). But none of us can judge Tarja or Toumas because we don't know what happened between them. All we know is Toumas decided to publicly sack and humiliate her. I think that reflects badly on him as a bandleader, but again I don't know what was going on.

Demo or not, and heavy accent or not, this is absolutely brilliant. Feels really good to hear it again. Nightwish really had something with Tarja, it's a shame that she became arrogant towards the band and got herself fired through it. That's the way I see it. Proof that underneath that angelic voice, there was a demon, one that a lot of NW fans don't care to notice. I miss Tarja's vocals and still listen to old NW, but I love Anette's voice as well, and am going to see Nightwish in May.

Yep, this definitely sounds like Holopainen's songwriting and lyrics :-) Some of it sounds really good, especially towards the end. If anyone could tell me where I can get a copy of this demo, I'd be very grateful. Is it available anywhere other than iTunes? (I have an iPod but I can't buy stuff off iTunes!)
