  • It is saddening to see that we Shias are still continuing such practices. Islam prohibits the harming of oneself. Logically these practices are very wrong. Cuts and scars can lead to death via infections, blood may contain or contract a disease, etc. We have the truth yet our practices reveal that we don' understand the real value of what we have. All forms of extreme matam should be prohibited by our scholars. Personally, I prohibit it for myself.
