  • I really don't agree with this. Your middle finger naturally is stronger than your index finger. Therefore, when you play a 1-2-3-4 rythm, you should always play m-i-m-i, even when you go to a different string. That way you always emphasise the most important notes.

And when you play your g string, your thumb should be on your a string to mute the e + a string.

He's got his thumb on the e string (1:20), so the a string can vibrate and produce noise. Now that's not a good thing, is it?

  • Brilliant. Thankyou very much.

  • Don't reply to comments made two years ago. =/

  • @BassBoy1000S Hm I think your initial starting finger either if its middle or index is personal. And hes not showing muting with his left hand, which is personal too.

  • @BassBoy1000S

not necessarily. Some people uses the pinky and the ring for muting open strings. By the way this is an exercise to get some independence in the finger's movement, in certain occasions you'll need to emphatize with the index instead the middle. It's known that bunny brunel has a very proper technique.

  • sound quality blows...

  • Thanks for giving lessons from MOON.......or some other planet....

  • bass lessons inside a bottle

  • Plissken07, It seems as if you're playing the bass in a classical guitar style. When I first started I had the same problem as you. I good tool to use when changing your plucking hand to rest on strings then fly up on them is to wrap a rubber band around your strumming fingers and begin playing the bass that way for about 2 weeks. You'll notice that resting on strings is less tiring and will have positive effect on a more earthy sound then a punk sound.

  • This was nothing like what i was expecting, Change the title of the vid!! many lols

  • I'm sorry, but I don't understand how you can't pluck the strings. He says to just "pull" them. I tried this...he says that you should have your fingers rest on the string after you pull a string. For example if you pull open G, then right after it should be resting on D. Super hard. I guess you just have to practive over and over.

So, is this the right way? Or is it one way? Is plucking bad?
