Kodak Zi8 Test Footage + iMovie 09

messing around with the Zi8 and iMovie 09. Probably gonna step up to final cut express...

just wanted to see what type of quality footage i could get with the zi8. i am using a custom made cam slider (igus) that i am still getting used to.

probably gonna upgrade the cam to a DSLR soon as well.. just getting my feet wet with all this video stuff, as I am an audio guy at heart.. i want to shoot a documentary and the Zi8 was the economical choice for me to learn video basics and how to set up shots...

also, using the wide angle lens from Deal Extreme. this def. added some blur to the edges of the video..but it also def. gives you a WAY WIDER ANGLE.

did some minor color correction ( if you wanna call it that..lol ) to the images...so footage is no longer raw.

mad a custom letterbox as well.

also, the cam slider is not completely stable yet as i am waiting for my tripods, so for the moment, it was just set on table tops and counters..

Very smooth quality! good slider/ dolly thing you made. Im awaiting for my magnetic wide angle for the Zi8... I see that you said you are planing on upgrading to a dslr, can I ask which? Have you checked out the Pentax K-X its in the 500 range.

@haz4510 depends on the specs of the G4 and which version of iMovie. i have an old 533 MHz digital audio with an ATI Rage Pro 128 and it can handle the version of iMovie i have on it right now. of course this is actually being replaced today by a powerbook G4 12" 1.5 Ghz and a powermac G4 1.25 GHz dual.
