i wish there was a video of him playing his first instrument fiddle that he made out of cornstalks and wooden boxes,,,, when I hear clapton's name, I think of the funny story that he quit the yardbirds in 1965 because they had turned from the blues and were too comercial,,,

i think what i love most about these old blues cats is that they were really pioneers when it comes to really fully exploring the depth and possibilities of the guitar in terms of all what we may have considered subtleties. the importance of rhythm, the touch, the timing, the embellishments, the bass line, a whole new dimension of the guitar, I believe, was reconsidered when a lot of the modern pop stars like clapton/richards first heard it. we owe so much to broonzy, davis, blake, etc etc
