A panic disorder can manifest with panic seizures or attacks. Panic attacks are being experienced by almost 20 percent or an estimated 60 million adults in America, these people may suffer once or twice from a panic seizure at a point in their adult lives. 3 million of these people may go through repeated panic attack symptoms. Manifested symptoms of panic attack are considered different from most kind of disorders since, this may happen suddenly and unexpectedly.
A person suffering from panic attacks may possibly develop irrational fears, which can escalate and form into a phobia. The duration of a panic attack may differ greatly; it usually lasts for more than ten minutes or more if the attacks are recurring. It is considered to be one of the most distressing conditions one can experience because of the panic attack symptoms which mimic that of a heart attack.
A lot of emotional conditions may have panic attacks as the symptom; some of these may include post traumatic stress disorder, alcoholism and withdrawal from substance abuse. Medical conditions like anemia and thyroid abnormalities can also produce panic attacks; stimulants and malaria medications may also have side-effects that can result to panic seizures.
Panic attacks that happen while sleeping is called nocturnal panic attacks, this can occur less than that of a panic attack in the daytime. This condition can affect at the most, seventy percent of all the people going through a daytime panic attack. This kind of symptom is important to know about, because people who suffer from nighttime attacks may possibly acquire respiratory problems associated with panic.
People who suffer from nocturnal panic attacks may tend to suffer more symptoms of depression and other psychiatric problems, than those who do not suffer from panic attacks during night time. Nocturnal panic attack may cause an individual to suddenly wake up from sleep and experience sudden fear or terror for no reason at all. People who go through this kind of panic attack also suffer the same symptoms of a regular panic attack.
Symptoms and signs of panic episodes can suddenly develop and may peak within 10 minutes and end immediately; it is rare to see people who experience panic episodes and takes a longer time to recover. Panic episodes usually occur away from your comfort zones and it may happen to anyone, anywhere and anytime.
A full panic seizure can include one or a combination of the following symptoms and signs like hyperventilation, heart palpitations, chest pains, trembling, sweating, nausea, dizziness, numbness and the fear of dying or losing control.
The symptoms of panic seizures are often thought as physical influences that affect a person; they can usually be severe that it is mistaken to be a symptom for heart attack. A panic seizure can come and go in a few minutes; this does not last long compared to a heart attack symptom.
Panic attacks can also be a cause of medical conditions and other physical problems. If a person is suffering from panic episodes, it is important to consult a doctor immediately to rule out causes of extreme medical ailments.
Panic disorder and panic attack are treatable conditions. Therapy and medication are the usual prescription to cope with panic disorder. This can help in controlling and preventing panic episodes from happening.
