Virtually everything in America is now made in China, from toothpaste and computer accessories to vitamins, electronics and toys. In this week's vodcast, John W. It's not like America manufactures anything. All their conglomerates have their factories built in Third World nations for cheap labor. Those are distributed around the world to chain stores and restaurants. So "made in China" just implies that it was made by a Chinese factory worker.

But the design was American. So don't feel bad. It's nature of economics that things would turn up like this. Unless you illegalize it. But corporations have too much political power in the US.

Your country imports 70% of it's machine tools which means 30% of American machine tool consumption is provided by local American machine tool manufacturers. You can use that remaining 30% machine tool manufacturing capacity to re-industrialize America again. Machine tools are the only machines that can reproduce themselves and reproduce all kinds of manufacturing machinery to re-industrialize America. Impose high-tariffs on imports and provide tax credits to local manufacturers.

Well, don't blame others if you killed your own light manufacturing. I actually think Americans SHOULD just be protectionist and clamp down imports and revamp light manufacturing. US desperately needs to do that!But is Obama determined enough to do that? Is he willing to save American trade deficit and manufacturing with incredible hike in price level and drop in living standard?!! USA's MICness is NOT China's fault.
