Let's Fool Around in Castle of the Winds

Not a regular LP, just wanted to show off the game, as it was interesting in my younger gaming life. As you can see, I've gotten rusty, but it's still fun!

SoM wasn't working right, I'll fix it later, and Symphony of the Night isn't appealing to me at this exact moment (because I had my heart set on doing an SoM episode today, I guess) so This is what you get today.

Not sure where to get the music anymore. It's orchestra-performed versions of OoT music, if that helps.

I love this game, they're gonna make a ps3 version of it and it'll come out on May 2012! Did u know that COW was originally intended for the ODDESSEY? Yeah, that first game console that ever existed. Castle of the Winds is the one that the WINDS are of and if ur telling the truth then u must know that it's better than any MMORPG like Tibia or Runescape cause those games really suck and everyone's a dickhead.

The first roguelike game I played, pretty easy but really fun. I had both games back then, and played through them a bunch of times.

Never got my custom icons to work though, lol.

Ahhh.... Castle of the Winds, another cherished childhood memory. I remember being scared to go too deep into the second dungeon because I was afraid of the Wights (don't ask me why lol, I was young).

As for anyone interested, you can download the game for free now, Rick Saada (the creator) made it freeware several years back. He's since gone on to work on Pirates of the Burning Sea, so I doubt he cares about the lost income. :P

i play castle of winds part one trought in 2 and half hours

set CASTLE1.EXE to run in 256 colors

make 16bit 32x32px .ico file in the same folder as CASTLE1.EXE

have no spaces in .ico filename

and include the .ico filename extension

when typing file name in to custom character icon option within the game

Does anybody know how to replace the terrain graphics of the game? I've got an exe editor and have changed all the player and item graphics but it won't let me replace the bitmaps at all - so the magic spell icons, the buildings, the maps, etc.
