I disagree profoundly with the folks in this vid who say they feel supported at work.
Let me tell you, homophobia runs rampant where I work, one of the largest corps in the world: BP America Inc. You would not believe what happens to good gay and lesbian employees there in their corporate offices despite "policy".
Hell, remember when their chairman, Lord John Brown, resigned in 2005 due to a gay relationship with a rent boy? He knew he could not be open in his own organization!

I work for BP in their corporate offices, the harrassment of gay individuals is rampant and ingrained into the structure of the office environment. On paper, in policy, BP seems great. But in practice, they fire all gays who raise complaints against superiors or peers who engage in these direct or indirect abuses. We are always told "The anti-gay behavior is unintentional, but your accusation is intentional, so we must fire you." This is what is happening right now at BP America Inc.

@bmcnaught If your talking about gay issues, well so be it. But keep in mind that we (trans men and women) are watching you and well......we have been grouped as a part of the GLB society but are always the ones left behind when it comes to legislation at the state or federal level.
Is it fair?

@bmcnaught I appreciate everything your doing to educate people/society that we do exist but it still you made no mention of transgender people in your latest upload. It only leads me to ask questions as to why?
Mr. Mcnaught, Nice video but not on GLB people get harrassed in public or in the workplace but what is your take on Transgender people?
Don't you believe that we are the most feared in society and the least understood when it comes to what has become known as "transphobia"?
As a phobia educator and advocate for gay, lesbia and bi rights, its no wonder that trangender people feel left out of any legislation that excludes our group when we are not mentioned with GLB.

@Jensagirl I'm pleased to say that I've been addressing transgender issues in the workplace since 1986, long before it was on most people's radar screens. My Web guide for managers on gay and transgender issues reflects input from transgender friends who have long been grateful for my advocacy. Last week, I returned from speaking in Japan and India to corporate executives on transgender issues, a first in either country.
