Note to previous comment: I am using 50mm 1.8f prime, that's why I ask. If it's not possible with the digital zoom, is it better to bring the gray card closer to the cam or briging the cam closer to the gray card and the subject for the shot. I figure it's better to leave the gray card in the location where the subject is, that's why I ask your advice about the digital zoom in my previous comment.

Greetings Dave, would you advise using the digital zoom to take a still image of your gray card for custom white balance prior to video shoot? I know it is not possible with the original firmware of the 600D but is it possible with magic lantern firmware and/or advisable for your gray card exposure shot? Cheers.

Just FYI your viewers may already know this but it is actually a 50% gray card and reflects 18% of the light that hits it.

Definitely 3.2 Dave...That setting provides the best color balance and skin tone. Anything wider and highlights are washed out...smaller apertures are starting to degrade the color balance....just my 10 cents. Thanks...very good tutorial...this is how we learn.

Thank you Dave, you gave a great tip on how to set the correct exposure for video as I hadn't figured it out yet.

Hi !! I wanted to ask you, which camera did you use for this particular shooting? Can you advise me how did you setup the light for this video please? Thanks:)
Where did you get that 18% gray card from?
