@Danieldx22 Judo under the old rules allowed for everything that BJJ has, since BJJ came from Judo. But post-WWII rules and Olympic competition made ne waza and dangerous joint locks illegal. In its purest form, Judo takes control from the standing position, and then finishes on the ground. Look at what Kimura did to Helio Gracie. The Olympics really hurt martial arts.

Yeah, a lot of pimply-faced noobs who grew up in the 90's and early 2000's and had never seen an armbar(Juji Gatame) or triangle choke(Sankaku-Jime) until Mel Gibson did one in 'Lethal Weapon' actually thought that Royce Gracie was doing something new. Funny how Judo was all but forgotten until people recently started looking at old Judo footage and said, "Hey, that looks like BJJ!" A bunch of Einsteins, aren't they?

@Danieldx22 ....not at a disadvantage....you just have to move quicker....the BJJ guys i go against for fun seem to almost "hang-out" and think....it's gotta' be fluidly moving towards an actual finish, or a ref will call it.....
